PORTSMOUTH: Barbara L. Talon, 94, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024 in Portsmouth NH. She was the daughter of Stanley and Evelyn (Frary) Sprague.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband Andrew J. Talon and her siblings George Sprague, Byron Sprague, Stanley (Dewey) Sprague, Clara DeDobbelaere, Jean Glidden, Kenneth Sprague, and Joan Varney; stepson Edward Talon; grandson Cory Paradis; and step grandson John Irving.
She is survived by daughter Kathleen Cairns and her husband Christopher of Rochester NH, son Robert Paradis of Stark NH, son Donald Paradis and his wife Cecile of Gonic NH, daughter Sandra McDavitt and her husband Ken of Rangeley ME, son Lionel (Luke) Paradis and his wife Kris of Dover NH, daughter Charlene Sanborn and her husband Joseph (Molly) of Rochester NH, and daughter Marlene Medeiros of Dover NH; and stepdaughter Jeanne Irving and her husband John of Alton NH, stepdaughter Theresa (Terrie) Stuart and her husband Jim of McDonough GA; nine grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was born in Portsmouth NH and lived in Kittery, Rochester, Gonic, and Milton over the years. She graduated from Spaulding High School in 1947. Barbara retired from St. Charles Children's Home in Rochester where she enjoyed working as a cook and seamstress. She and her husband Andy were very happy together in their loving, thirty-seven-year marriage. They had many adventures traveling in their camper. Barbara was a kind and giving friend, and she cared deeply for each of her children who were the highlights of her life.
Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, at Grondin Funeral Home in Rochester. Services will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 19, at Holy Rosary Church in Rochester. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association at https://www.alz.org. The family expresses their deep gratitude to the devoted and compassionate staff members of Cedar Healthcare Center.
