Barbara Valine Morgan Fikes

Barbara Valine Morgan Fikes, affectionately known as Valine, passed away on March 28, 2025. Born on March 29, 1952, in Dallas, Texas, Valine was a woman of remarkable wit and spirit, whose life was a testament to her resilience and passion for learning.
Valine graduated from Royse City High School in 1970. Her academic journey continued at East Texas State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1975. Valine furthered her education by obtaining a diploma in nursing from Dallas Baptist University in 1977, showcasing her dedication to the service of others, Her professional life was marked by a commitment to healthcare, as she worked at Irving Hospital from 1978 to 1985. Valine's colleagues remember her as a compassionate nurse who brought comfort and care to countless patients during her tenure.
Valine's interests extended beyond her professional life. She had a profound appreciation for arts and crafts, and she spent many hour immersed in her creative pursuits, Antiquing was another passion of hers, and she delighted in the discover of hidden treasures and the stories they held. Despite her tendency to live and reclusive life, Valine's impact on those around her was indelible and she loved all animals.
Valine is preceded in death by her parents, Orlan Lee Fikes, Sr., and Barbara Valine (Morgan) Fikes, her brother, Dale Fikes, and her maternal grandparents. She is survived by her brother, Dr. Lee Fikes and his wife, Riva; her sister, Lynn Lowry and her husband, Len: as well as eight nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins, other extended family members, and numerous friends
