Barbara Jean Wineinger

Barbara Jean (Ratts) Wineinger, 93, was born on August 16, 1930, in Salem, Indiana, and departed peacefully for her heavenly home on May 29, 2024. Preceding her in death were her parents, Lillian Ruth and James Leon Ratts, as well as the love of her life, Noel "Ray" Wineinger. She and Ray were married on her 17th birthday, August 16, 1947, and celebrated 67 years together.
Barbara was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She especially loved her many trips to the gulf coast (Madeira Beach, Panama City), both with the family and with Ray alone in their later years together. She and Ray traveled around other areas of the country with family members and friends as well.
As an only child, family was very important to Barbara. Her children will go forward blessed by the many beautiful memories they made together. She had a strong faith and love of life which she passed on to her children and grandchildren. She loved reading. She always had a stick of gum in her purse for her grandchildren and donuts in the kitchen. Her loving and affectionate spirit will forever be cherished by her family, Linda (Dave) Meador, Larry Wineinger, Lisa (Ed) Hannon, and David (Beth) Wineinger, nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
The family would like to express appreciation for Barbara's pastor, Mitch Davis, and her Heartland Church of Christ family, as well as her many nurses, caregivers, and therapists at Avon Health and Rehab, specifically Rhonda, Karen, Nikki and Joyce. They would also like to thank the Hospice nurses and aids for their loving support.

A visitation will take place on Saturday, June 1, 2024, from 11am to 1 pm at Heartland Church of Christ, 1693 West Main Street, Greenwood, IN 46142. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation. The burial will be at Concordia after services have concluded.
