Barbara Yonge Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Yates Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Fort Pierce on Nov. 15, 2024.
Barbara Wynne Yonge, a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, registered nurse, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2024 at the age of 69 in Vero Beach, FL, following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born on March 7, 1955 in Glen Ridge, NJ, Barbara was the daughter of the late William "Bill" Kratzer and Janet Kratzer. She spent many years working as a registered nurse, providing compassionate care to her patients. Her career was a reflection of her deep commitment to helping others, and she was known for her kind and nurturing nature.
Barbara was a very creative soul, with a love for crafting and artistic work. Whether painting, sewing, or decorating her home, she had a gift for bringing beauty to the world around her. She also had a deep affection for animals, caring for many pets over the years and always showing kindness to creatures of all kinds. One of Barbara's greatest joys was spending time with her family, often gathering to share meals, lots of laughter, dancing, and conversation, all while listening to her favorite music. She had a wide appreciation for different genres, and music was an integral part of family life. She
also had a grand sense of humor, always keeping a smile on everyone's face. Barbara was also deeply connected to the beach, where she loved to explore and collect seashells. The beauty of the ocean, the creatures that lived there, and the treasures she found along the shore brought her a sense of peace, wonder, and commonly sparked inspiration for her arts and crafts. The simple act of gathering shells was a way for her to feel connected to nature and the world around her.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce T. Yonge, three daughters, Janet Kinchen (Kenny) of Vero Beach, FL, Jessica Mould-Joiner (Kyle) of Tampa, FL, Juliette Yonge (Zach) of Fort Pierce, FL and her grandsons, Cullen, Caleb, Evan, and Mathew, who will always carry her memory with love and gratitude.
A memorial service will be held on Friday November 22, 2024 from 6pm - 8pm at Yates Funeral Home in Fort Pierce, FL. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Barbara's life and share in the joy of her memory. In honor of Barbara's life and in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer & Parkinson Association of Indian River County at https://alzpark.org/donate/memorials-and-honorariums/ which supports research and care for those affected by Alzheimer's disease.
Barbara's legacy of love, creativity, laughter, and devotion to her family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

I first met my BFF Barb while working at a homecare agency in Fort Pierce .We were outside on break having a cigarette & talking & the rest is history . We connected right away. We both were nurses , & loved the beach , loved to snorkel & go shelling & go to the Farmers Market on Saturdays in Fort Pierce . We loved to just hang out at her place with her family & drink, eat & get very merry
Barb is the only person I could & would talk to on the phone for hours & to this day I won´t talk with anyone on the phone for more than 10 minutes even my own family . I have so many more memories of Barb that I will cherish forever. She was such a beautiful , loving ,& caring soul . She loved her husband Bruce , her daughters & fur babies so much as she had confided to me she would do anything for them. I could go on & on of all our adventures , but there are so many . Barbara I love you so very much & am going to miss your voice and your beautiful smile & your friendship. I´m so sorry I missed your memorial service. I unfortunately came down with the flu .
RIP my beautiful friend.
my heart felt condolences to Bruce , Janet , Jessie & Julie . May you find comfort peace & healing in the arms of our loving Lord .
