Barbara Elaine Browne Young

Mrs. Barbara Elaine Browne Young, 83, died Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi. A private service will be held for the family.

Barbara was born on June 28, 1942, in Jennings, Louisiana, to the late Frances and Thomas Browne. She and her husband, Tom, cherished 45 years of marriage together, raising three beloved children. Barbara worked for the Clay County Extension Office in West Point, Mississippi, before moving to Indiana, where she was an executive for the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association, quickly winning the trust and adoration of her coworkers and employers. She and Tom retired to Oxford, Mississippi, where they were members of Oxford-University United Methodist Church. An avid Ole Miss Football fan, she enjoyed cheering the Rebels on each football season. Above all, Barbara cherished her family, enjoying every moment spent with her children and grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Tom Young of Oxford, Mississippi; daughters, Lisa Presley Zieglar and her husband, Rick, of Indianapolis, Indiana and Kate Presley Petrey and her husband, Pete, of Greenfield, Indiana; son, Buddy Presley and his wife, Kim, of Meansville, Georgia; three sisters, Carolyn Denton, Becky Taylor, and Margaret Hall, all of Oxford, Mississippi; as well as six grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
