Barry Alan Evans born in
Robinson, Illinois December 23, 1952, the son of Walter Alan Evans and Norma Luella (Meurlott) Evans, passed into eternity on September 2nd, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Georgia Leigh (Evans) Atteberry, April 24,2014.
Barry is survived by a Son, Blake Alan Evans and His wife, Fawn and a Grandson, Dane Alan Evans, of
Lancaster, Pennsylvania, a sister, Elaine Simpson of
Virginia Beach, Virginia and many nieces and nephews. Barry is also survived by the children and grandchildren and great grandchildren of his once companion of many years. Barry loved his "step kids" with all his heart and had a very close relationship with his grandson, Tyler Wright.
Barry attended Robinson High School and Graduated Class of 1970 and attended classes at Lincoln Trail College.
Barry was a faithful, long-time member of BPO Elks Lodge # 1188,Robinson. Where, with his brother Elks, he enjoyed serving in the Calcutta Golf Outing as well as helping with the Annual Christmas Basket Program and the annual Veterans Auction. He will certainly be missed for his enthusiasm and dedication to his Lodge.
Barry followed in his father's footsteps working for Connor and Connor Inc, Robinson, as a Draftsman and Land Surveyor, retiring after 45 years of service.
Barry was Robinson's first Zoning Administrator. A challenging position where he worked tirelessly to model Robinsons' Zoning regulations after larger municipalities, keeping in mind all of the charms and uniqueness of small cities.
Barry was a talented craftsman, drawing, planning, and executing many projects over the course of his life with second to none attention to detail. His imagination was one to be admired. The largest and most interesting endeavor Barry ever undertook became known simply as "The Boat". A 30-foot, pontoon boat, meticulously crafted from steel, blue plastic "Marathon" barrels, 2 x 4's and plywood. Complete with a 65 horse Mercury outboard and rack and pinion steering from a Ford Pinto, The Boat was a sight to behold.
The boat found its home at Mill Creek Lake in
Marshall, Illinois. Barry loved to spend time on The Boat with friends and family. The memories made on Mill Creek Lake are truly enough to last a lifetime.
Barry knew the value of a good time. He most often could be found "sipping a suds", telling jokes and playfully teasing friends and family. His laugh was contagious. Barry enjoyed whittling and gardening as well.
Barry had a big heart and loved his friends and family dearly. This is the best part of "The Bear" and the thing that we all will miss the most.
