Bart Louis Mattingly

In loving memory of my father-in-law.
Bart was born on January 23rd, 1962, and passed away October 14th, 2023. Gone from this world too soon.
Bart will be missed by all who knew him, he truly was the best man I ever was blessed enough to call pops. Growing up in Northern Utah, he went to Alta View High and graduated in 1980. Shortly after high school he joined the Army and served proudly as a Lead Cobra Helicopter Mechanic for the region. With the help of his uncle Ron Thorne, he built his family a home in Kearns with his own hands, also teaching his children along the way.
Above all he was a family man, extremely hard working and never wavered in providing a stable life for his children. As the family grew, he was reunited with a family friend, Sherry and they hit it off and were married September 12th, 2009. Bringing the next and greatest chapter of pops life. Being a Papa! Being a Papa was Barts greatest joy. Becoming a grandfather was everything and yet again when the father of his granddaughter passed away too soon, Bart stepped up yet again. Taking it upon himself to carry his family upon his shoulders, helping to raise his granddaughter.
His smile was contagious, and you were blessed when you heard him laugh. He loved to ride motorcycles; fishing, camping, collecting dragons, eagles, and wizards, taking his grandbaby to the movies and sushi, but most of all he loved his family.
Bart you will forever be missed, love your other son, until we meet again.
Bart is survived by his mother Kerri Johnson, stepfather Larry Johnson; his wife and best friend Sherry Mattingly; daughter Cherie Nichole Harris; son Nicholas Bart Mattingly; brother Joshua John Mattingly; sister Mindy Mattingly; granddaughter Riann Johanna Mattingly Mills; grandsons Connor Bart Mattingly, and Zaryn Mattingly. Preceded in death by his father Hugh Mattingly and his beloved brother Eric Johnson.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 21st, 2023 at 2:00 PM Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Road (10600 S.) Sandy Utah 84092. A visitation and gathering will be held prior to the services between 12:30 to 1:45 PM also at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
