Bartholomew Michael "Bart" Donovan

Batholomew Michael Donovan, 83 of Gore, VA, passed away on February 26, 2024, at home.
Bart was born in 1940 in Union City, NJ, the son of the late Bartholomew and Celestine Donovan. He graduated with his Bachelor's Degree from Rutgers University and retired as an accountant for the United States Postal Service. Bart was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church where he was an active member of the choir and a Eucharistic Minister. Bart was the founder of Religious Appreciation Day. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Bart loved going to Costco and checking the stock market.
Bart married Mildred Eleanor Mary Klages on February 17, 1963, in Union City, NJ. She preceded him in death in May 2017.
Bart is survived by his daughters, Deborah Ann Donovan (fiancé Kevin Woodruff) of Matawan, NJ, Laura Lynn Goodenough Donovan (Ken) of Stafford, VA, Susan R. Donovan (Sherry Wright-Donovan) of Gore, VA; grandchildren, Crystal Ann Martin, Kathleen Goward, Deborah Fernandez, Michael Donovan, Adam Goodenough, Ryan Goodenough, Rebecca Floreno, Matthew Wright and Josh Wright and many great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents and wife, Bart is preceded in death by his sister, Celestine Behling.
A visitation will be held for Bart on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 2pm at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
