Bedrich George "Benny" Klekar, Jr. of Seguin, passed away June 27, 2024. He was born January 1, 1943, in Shiner, Texas to Bedrich, Sr. and Ludmilla (Randuch) Klekar.
Benny is preceded in death by his parents; son, Bryan Douglas Klekar and in-laws; Mansvet and Rosie "Billeck" Vana.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Rose Marie Klekar; son, Robert Klekar and wife Heather; daughter, Robbin Koehler and husband Dean; grandchildren, Bryan Graham Klekar, Harrison Graham Klekar, Douglas Alden Klekar, Matthew Benjamin Koehler, and Abigail Rose Koehler; sister-in-law, Doris Volek; nieces, Jeanette Johnston and husband Ron and Brenda Kurtz; several great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other loving family members and a host of friends.
Benny married the love of his life and moved to Seguin 57 years ago. Benny and Rose Marie purchased what they called "Our Little Farm" when they moved to Seguin. They began a family and enjoyed every minute of their children. He started working at then SMI in the Fabrication and Finishing department. He became the Fabrication and Finishing department foreman for many years. Years before retiring he also worked in the inventory department. Benny retired from SMI/CMC after working there for 41 years. After retiring he took a passion in his grandchildren. Benny gave his family and friends many laughs since he loved to joke and enjoy life. He took his children to the zoo, rides on the Brackenridge train, themed trips to caves, tractor pulls and air shows. He was a member of the Commemorative Air Force. Benny was a big fan of old WW2 planes; history and he also began collecting trains. Benny and his wife traveled all over and had plans to travel more. Some places their travels took them were Colorado, where Benny got hooked on the Durango and Silverton Railroad where many more trips and adventures took place. Benny loved life.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary. Funeral service will be Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Dr. Timothy Sternberg officiating. Burial will take place Friday, July 5, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Flatonia, Texas with Pastor Emmanuel Carpenter officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Bryan Klekar, Harrison Klekar, Douglas Klekar, Robert Klekar, Abigail Koehler, Matthew Koehler, Robbin Koehler. Honorary pallbearers will be Dean Koehler and Heather Klekar.
