Born on April 3, 1940, in Castroville, Texas, to Esteban and Juanita Benitez, Benita transitioned to her eternal home peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family and the comfort of cherished memories.
Benita’s life was defined by kindness, devotion, and a spirit that touched everyone she met. She was a woman of laughter and loyalty, whose presence could brighten even the hardest of days. For 65 years, she shared daily coffee dates with her dearest friend, Julia Martinez—a simple tradition that spoke volumes about her love for connection and her gift for lifelong friendship.
A true fan of football, Benita rarely missed a game, but her real passion was caring for others. Whether visiting those who were sick, checking in with a phone call, or simply sharing a laugh, she made it her mission to spread joy and let people know they mattered. Her calls were never just conversations—they were moments of warmth, humor, and reassurance.
Above all, her greatest happiness came from her family, especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. With her quick wit, playful spirit, and infectious laughter, she created memories that will be treasured forever.
Benita will be remembered not only for her selflessness and laughter but also for the love she poured into every relationship. Though her absence leaves an ache in the hearts of those who knew her, her spirit will continue to live on in the stories, smiles, and love she leaves behind.
She is survived by her loving sons, Robert (Jo Ann) De Leon of Wayland, Michigan and Ralph (Mona) De Leon of Mansfield, TX; sisters, Linda (Andrew) Lopez, Josie Alvares, Olga Benitez all of Stockton, California, and Mary De Leon of Lubbock; brothers, David (Anna) Benitez, Joe (Yolanda) Benitez, and Tommy (Letty) Benitez all of Lubbock; grandchildren, Brenda, Crystal, R. Jacob, Franchesca , Courtney, and Camie; great grandchildren, Christian, Paisley , Rianna, RJ, Ralph De Leon III, Izeah, Eternity, Airicia, Zaylee, and Camdyn; and great-great grandchildren, Mason, Braxton, Riley, Dream, and Exodus.
A visitation will be held from 2-6pm, Friday, October 10, 2025, at Combest Family Memorial Chapel with rosary to be cited at 6pm. Funeral services will take place at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church at 10 am, Saturday, October 11, 2025. Burial to follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
