Bennie Jo Hobson, age 89, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025, at the Green House Cottages of Homewood in Mena, Arkansas. She was born on April 4, 1935, in the Caney Valley community near Kirby, Arkansas to the late Ralph and Gertie (Doster) Oliver.
Bennie was a homemaker and worked as a secretary at times. She was an excellent seamstress and pianist and a member of Salem Baptist Church in Mena.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 58 years, Gene Hobson, a brother, Ronald Oliver and grandson, Josh Bazar.
She is survived by two daughters, Janice and Randall Whorton of Mena and Carol and Audie Jones of Rudy, Arkansas, two sons, Mike and Melissa Hobson of Mena and Mark and Tyra Hobson of Mena, one niece, Debra Oliver of Mena and 13 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
A chapel service will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. at the Bowser family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena, Arkansas, with Brother Bobby Blasingame officiating. There is no visitation scheduled. A private family burial will be held at the County Line Cemetery in Nashville, Arkansas at a later time under the
direction of Bowser Funeral Home in Mena.
Memorials can be made to Salem Baptist Church, 115 Polk Road 56, Mena, Arkansas or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org.
