Bennie Albert Reed

Bennie Albert Reed, 90 of Elk City, Oklahoma was born on June 25, 1935 in Boise City, Oklahoma to John Isaac and Lavada Mae (Fine) Reed. He looked upon the face of his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in Elk City, Oklahoma surrounded by his loving family.

Bennie married the love of his life, Norma Jean Laxson on March 20, 1954, at Boise City, Oklahoma. Together they spent many wonderful years of marriage together and raised four children, Davey, Christy, Phyllis and Johnny.

Bennie was employed at ElPaso Natural Gas for thirty-nine years retiring in 1994, After his retirement he worked for JMAC for twenty years.

He was passionate about working, and enjoyed hunting, attending air shows, going to auctions and collecting antiques. Most of all he truly loved his grandchildren and going to their sporting events.

Bennie had a deep personal relationship with God and was a member of Gateway Church, Elk City, Oklahoma. He treasured spending time with his family and friends, he will be deeply missed and greatly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Martin-Dugger Funeral Home Chapel, Elk City, Oklahoma. Rev. Chasten Musick will officiate. Interment will be at Fairlawn Cemetery, Elk City, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the care of Richard and Tammy Dugger and the staff of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Elk City, Oklahoma.

Cherishing his memory is his loving wife, Jean Reed of Elk City, Oklahoma; one son, Johnny Reed and his wife, Holly of Yukon, Oklahoma; two daughters, Christy Lamar of Smyrna, Tennessee, Phyllis Kinkead and her husband, Mark of Amarillo, Texas; six grandchildren, Craig Kinkead of Elk City, Oklahoma, Jason Kinkead of Bryan, Texas, Rachel Southammavong of Smyrna, Tennessee, Sarah Huston of Smyrna, Tennessee, Blake Reed of Cordell, Oklahoma, Brooklyn Torres of Yukon, Oklahoma; six great grandchildren; one sister, Georgia McMillon of Henderson, Nevada; and numerous other friends and relatives.

Bennie is preceded in death by his parents, John Isaac and Lavada Mae Reed; one son, Davey Reed, and one brother, Luther Lee Reed.
