On December 14, 2025, Bernadette Ann (Gioffredi) Loken went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous fight against cancer.
Bernadette was born in Des Moines, Iowa on October 6, 1960, to Richard and Delores Gioffredi. She graduated from Dowling High School and then studied nursing at Grand View in Des Moines. After graduation she began her nursing career in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where she met her husband, Tom. They were married in 1987 and moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma where they raised their two daughters, Michelle and Katie. Bernadette had a long nursing career at Muskogee Regional Medical Center and later continued her career at the Muskogee VA Hospital. She retired from the VA Hospital and moved to Oklahoma City with her husband to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Bernadette was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother (Bebe), daughter, sister, cousin and friend whose joyful spirit filled every room she entered. Known for her quick wit, warm smile, and ability to make anyone feel welcome, she never met a stranger. Whether she was visiting with friends, celebrating family milestones, or simply sharing a laugh, she brought light and happiness to those around her. Her Catholic faith was central to her life and sustained her through both joy and hardship. She trusted deeply in God’s promises and faced her illness with courage and grace.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Tom, her daughters Michelle Cuellar (J.J.) of Oklahoma City, OK and Katie Voss (Michael) of Wellston, OK, her beloved grandchildren Charlotte and J.R. Cuellar, and Josie Voss; they were her greatest joys, her mother Delores Gioffredi of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, her brother Tony Gioffredi (Marsha) of Sugar Land, Texas and her nephews Matthew and Michael Gioffredi. She was preceded in death by her father Richard Gioffredi.
