Bernadette G. Trudeau, 86, of Plattsburgh sadly passed away on August 11, 2024, at CVPH Medical Center with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Mooers Forks on March 27, 1938, to her parents Adrien and Ellen (Gadway) Decosse.
Bernie, as she was often called, graduated from High school and then worked at several places like Ben Franklins and Grand Union. As her children got older, she decided to pursue higher education to better her life and obtained her associates degree from Our Lady of Victory Secretarial School. She then became employed as an agent at LaBarge Insurance agency and later at Latremore's Insurance where she eventually retired.
Bernie was a person who always gave of herself to help others. She had a love of people and would never speak poorly of anyone. She enjoyed helping people so she became very involved in many organizations such as the Business and Professional Women's Club where she held several positions that included Correspondence Secretary, Second Vice President, and eventually First Vice President. Bernie was a very active member of the Lake City Chapter of The Red Hat Society where she worked hard to help improve women's lives through friendship, fun and fitness. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and Ladies Auxiliary. She was a very active member of St. Alexander's Church and had so much joy when she was singing in their choir.
Bernie's first love was spending time with her family. She was always looking forward to family get-togethers where there was usually music. You could be sure to see her dancing and providing harmony to any song that her grandson would play on his guitar. She also had many other hobbies; she enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking and bowling in a league with friends.
Bernie acquired another loving family at Pine Harbour where she stayed during her last six years of life. With her fun-loving personality, staff found it easy to become attached and fall in love with her.
Bernie was predeceased by her parents Adrien and Ellen Decosse, three brothers, George Decosse, Dennis DeCosse, Roma Decosse and sister-in-law Hellen Decosse, three brothers-in-law, Gerald Lafountain, Joseph Snide and Stanley Savage.
