Bernard "Buddy" Everson Jr., of Norwood, NJ, passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, August 2, 2025.
He was the beloved husband of Carolyn (née D'Ercole), and a devoted father to Tara Pisano (Mike), Danielle Greco (Darren), and Danna Pisano (Gary). Known lovingly as "Poppy," Buddy was incredibly proud of and cherished by his grandchildren-Michael, Justin, Garrett, Julia, and Aidan. He will also be dearly missed by his grand-dogs, Tucker, Macie, and Buck. Buddy was the loving brother of Madeline Hart and Eileen Williams, and was predeceased by his sisters Dorothy Shafer, Barbara Yannucci, and brother Peter Everson. He is also survived by many dear brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, and a wide circle of close friends whose lives he touched deeply.
Buddy was a proud union electrician with IBEW Local 363 until his early retirement in 1996, following a courageous battle with leukemia. Through the selfless gift of his beloved younger brother Peter, and by the grace of God, we were blessed with nearly 30 more years with him. He had a quick wit, colorful stories, and a gift for conversation. Never did he pass up a chance to stop and spend time with family or friends. His visits, often unannounced but always welcome, were a reflection of the love he carried for those around him. In his earlier years, he could always be found on the sidelines or in the bleachers, cheering loudly and proudly at his grandchildren's sporting events. His spirited support made him a familiar face not only to the team, but to their friends and families as well. He quickly became a beloved fixture in the crowd, telling jokes, earning smiles, friendships, and even a playful 'participation' trophy, which he accepted with pride. For years, you could count on finding Buddy at Dunkin' Donuts, his green van parked reliably out front. Inside, he greeted familiar faces with a smile and made countless new friends along the way. Tuesday mornings were reserved for his beloved 'breakfast club' with his buddies at Stateline Diner, gatherings filled with laughter, stories, and lasting friendship. Whether chatting over coffee or cheering from the sidelines, Buddy made every moment brighter. His presence will be missed dearly and remembered with love.
Visiting hours are Thursday, August 14, 2025 from 4-7pm at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale, New Jersey.
