Today, we lost the greatest man we ever knew. With a heavy heart, we share the passing of our beloved father, Bernard Klee, who is now in the arms of our Lord Jesus.
Bernie, as everyone knew him, was born on July 20, 1934. He passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.
Bernie grew up in Kinde and Bad Axe, MI, where he lived on a farm with 16 brothers and sisters. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1956 and was stationed in Fort Sill, OK. While on leave, he met the love of his life, Gigi, in Port Austin, MI, and they married in 1957. When he finished his time in the service, they moved to Clawson, MI, where they raised a family and lived for over 62 years.
Bernie worked for the Oakland County Authority for over 40 years and retired in 1990. He and Gigi spent the next 20 years enjoying the beach, new friends, and especially family at their second home in Caseville. They spent precious time with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, making memories that would last a lifetime.
Bernie liked to hunt, fish, snowmobile, and especially loved to travel to casinos with close friends and family. Some of his favorite pastimes were playing euchre and pinochle, telling jokes, and telling stories of his early years to his grandchildren. But his passion and greatest loves were his wife, children, and their children, as well as his strong faith in God. No words will ever be able to describe how dearly he will be missed in so very many lives.
Bernie was married to his loving and devoted wife, Gigi, for almost 68 years. He was a loving father to Sonia (Mike) Julie (Bob), Teri, and Randall (Mini); grandfather of Rachael (Jeff), Derek, Amanda, Bonnie (Mike), Nicole (Rob), Heather (Michael), Randall II, and Isabella; great-grandfather of Nicholas, Jacob, Thomas, Joseph, Lucas, Noah, Olivia, Jackson, Joshua, Johnathon, Juliana, Michael, and Gabriella; and step-great-grandfather of Haley, Tyler, and Emma. Bernie is also survived by his brothers, Chuck and Ed; sisters, Elaine, Loraine, Marge, Karen, Sharon, and Debbie; and brothers-in-law, Pete and Jack.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Bonita Jean; parents, Joseph and Beulah; step-mother, Blanch; brothers, Joe, Spark, and Bob; and sisters, Midge, Eve, Bernice, and Linda. Bernie also joins in eternal rest his sisters-in-law, Manna and Toni, and his brother-in-law, Tino.
Visitation for Bernie will be held from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with military honors at 7:00 PM, on Monday, June 16, 2025 at Gramer Funeral Home, 705 North Main Street, Clawson, MI 48017. A funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 PM, in-state at 11:30 AM, on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 581 East 14 Mile Road, Clawson, MI 48017. The Mass will be live-streamed on the Guardian Angels Catholic Church facebook page. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Bernard "Bernie" Clinton Klee, please visit our Tree Store.
