Bernard Mount Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel & Crematory - Appleton on May 21, 2024.
Bernard "Butch" Mount, a beloved husband, step-father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on May 19, 2024. Born on October 17, 1948, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Butch was raised by his loving parents, Ray and Carmen Mount.
Butch is survived by the love of his life, Mary Mount, his devoted step-daughter Renee (Jim) Palmer, and his cherished grandchildren, Jenna and Jamie Palmer. He is also survived by his siblings, Eddie (Angie) Mount, Doug (Kim) Mount, Dawn (Warren - deceased) Sroczynski and several nieces and nephews.
A man of many talents, Butch was skilled in various jobs and had a plethora of hobbies that kept him active and engaged. His passion for golf was well known, and he was a dedicated member of the Moose Club. One of his most memorable experiences was golfing at the TPC professional golf course in Las Vegas, Nevada, a thrill he cherished deeply.
Butch's love for harness racing was another defining aspect of his life. He spent many years working alongside his wife, Mary, on the harness racing circuit, a venture that brought them closer and enriched their lives with countless memories.
Among his many joys, being a grandfather was paramount. Butch found immense happiness in spending time with his grandchildren, Jenna and Jamie, who were the light of his life. He was called grandpa by many, including his "adopted" grandchildren Nate Zipple, Audra Zipple and the late Callie (Shane Hintz) Zipple. Additionally, he loved being a dog dad to his beloved Snoopy, and all of his other puppies who brought him great comfort and companionship.
Butch's sudden passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A service will be held to honor Butch's memory at Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel on Friday, May 24, 2024 at 1 pm, and visitation before beginning at 12 pm. Interment will take place at Historic Riverside Cemetery in Appleton. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the local Humane Society in Butch's name, celebrating his generous spirit and love for life.

Watching Butch interacting with my doxie, who'd been traumatized by a man. Butch showed that little dog that men could be trusted. They formed a lasting, loving bond.

Butch, and Mary, hold a very special place in my and Ernie's heart. The countless conversations and laughter shared, gifted by Butch's true advice always provided reassurance that in good or bad times - life is grand, live it with grit, stay true, do the right thing. He held a very proud love for his family and their accomplishments; a joy that lit up his face. A lifetime of adventure with Mary - from the time he had the courage to ask her out, to boasting about her gift of training horses (and handlers, lol) and their teamwork in racing...to simply enjoying the funnies of their fur friends. I'm grateful and blessed that Butch is a part of my life story. Sending my deepest condolences to Mary and family. Prayers that God holds you in His hands and that the memories lift you up when you need it most. ((hugs)) <3, Jill Salzman

Butch was a wonderful person who would help anyone in need. I had the blessing to have met him back in the late 70's in South Florida. He always had something nice to say and everyone loved him. He will be greatly missed.

Butch was an amazing lover of so many of Mary´s YMCA dogs that he welcomed into his home and along side Mary made our dogs their own.
My beloved Gus, who Mary and Butch took in as their own literally, was able to go to heaven when they said "it´s time Terry". I trusted Gus to Butch and Mary with my heart and
soul. Butch was so supportive of Mary´s passion with animals that he made this dream of Mary´s Doghouse a reality. I will be forever grateful to Butch for his love and care for my pets, especially GusTerry
