Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at St. Bernard Catholic Church honoring the life of Bernice "Bea" Trahan Guidry, 95, who passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Landmark of Acadiana Nursing Home.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge on Wednesday from 7:30 am until 12:30 pm. A Rosary will be prayed at 10:00 am by Alcus Trahan.
Father Garrett McIntyre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Liz Melancon and Denise Guidry. Gift bearers will be Mia Boudreaux and Raemie Melancon.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia.
Bea was a hard worker and always made sure her family was provided for. She worked for many years at Henry Mills Lumber Co. in Breaux Bridge and Guidry's Hardware in Lafayette, and she was also a waitress, part-time, at Robin's Restaurant and Pat's Restaurant, in Henderson.
Bea spent her spare time tending and working in her yard, which earned her the proud title of "Garden of the Month". She cherished Sundays spent cooking for her family and the Christmas holiday, where she could keep the spirit alive for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bea passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on her and her husband's 78th wedding anniversary. They shared a beautiful love story, and we are sure that they are reunited with their beloved daughter, Penny, and dancing together again.
She is survived by her son, Billy Guidry (Denise); daughter, Elizabeth "Liz" Melancon (Terry); brother, Alcus Trahan; grandchildren, Jacob Guidry (Robin), Jared Guidry, Jordan Guidry (Halie), Ryker Melancon (Megan) and Mia Boudreaux (Ryan); and her great-grandchildren, Maddox Boudreaux, Cohen Melancon, Raemie Melancon, Claire Guidry, Rule Guidry, Cecille Guidry, Dewey Guidry, Charlie Guidry, Matthew Guidry, Delaney Guidry, and one on the way.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Rule Joseph Guidry; daughter, Penny Guidry; parents, Claude Trahan, Sr., and Leontine Berard Trahan; brothers, Claude Trahan, Jr. and Mike Trahan; and her sister, Evelyn Badeaux.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Guidry, Jared Guidry, Jordan Guidry, Ryker Melancon, Terry Melancon, and Ryan Boudreaux.
Honorary pallbearers will be all her great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of Landmark of Acadiana Nursing Home and Hope Hospice, for all of their care and compassion that was extended to them.
