SGM (Ret) Bert Franklin Sarty, 85, died Monday, December 6, 2021, at his residence.
Mr. Sarty was born on December 2, 1936, in Claremore, OK, to the late Homer Googan and Edna Marie Dunlap Sarty. He was a counselor at Fayetteville Technical Community College.
A funeral service will be held Thursday evening, December 9, from 6:00 until 6:30 p.m., at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home Chapel with a visitation following until 8:00 p.m. A committal service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 10, in the Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery Chapel, with full military honors.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Sarty is preceded in death by his wife Roxie Donovan Sarty and a brother, Garry W. Sarty.
Mr. Sarty is survived by two daughters: Deborah "Debbie" K. Sarty Melvin (Randy) and Tondra Lynn Sarty Ray (Robert), both of Fayetteville; two sons: Steven W. Sarty and Bert F. Sarty Jr. (Lisa), both of Fayetteville; five sisters: Norma Jo Sarty White of Stillwater, OK, Patricia M. Sarty Widdows of Coweta, OK, Carol Sarty Withers of Coweta, OK, Shannon G. Sarty Kramer of Checotah, OK, and Leslie Sarty Crutchfield of Coweta, OK; one brother: Homer David Sarty of Anna, TX; 5 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105. http://www.stjude.org
