Bertha S. Barkwell, 91, entered into rest on Monday, June 5, 2023.
Bertha was born on December 9, 1931, in Lexington, Georgia to the late Otis and Sally Smith. She retired from a long civil service career at Robins Air Force Base and went on to drive cars for Cochran Motors. She was a faithful member of Green Acres Baptist Church. In her free time, she loved working in the yard, especially on her flowers, and enjoyed listening to music.
In addition to her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, David Barkwell.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her children; Debra Dixon (Lamar) of Byron, Georgia, Dianne Jay of Beverly Hills, Florida, and Vivian Sarty (George) of Tuscumbia, Alabama; grandchildren; Jamie Moorman, Lindsey Johnson, Kalie Moore, Robert Bohrer, Ellen Howes, Ryan Whitehead, and Jimmy Ripolio; great-grandchildren; Dalyn, Gavin, Mylee, Ashlynn, Mason, A.J., Zackary, Maddison, and Andrew; along with a host of other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 13, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterward, Bertha will be laid to rest in Parkway Memorial Gardens.
