Mrs. Bertha Bekiaris

It is with deep respect and admiration that we celebrate the life of Mrs. Bertha Bekiaris, who passed away peacefully at her home in Edison on the morning of Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the remarkable age of ninety-nine.

Born on St. Patrick's Day in 1926 in Manhattan, Bertha grew up in New York City, where she completed her education and began building a life defined by love, resilience, and service. She married her devoted husband, Christos, and together they moved to Edison in 1959 to raise their family… a decision that would anchor generations in a home filled with warmth and tradition.

Bertha enjoyed a distinguished career as an administrative professional, serving Rutgers University for many years and later contributing her expertise at Krauszer's Food Store corporate offices, where she managed inventory operations across local stores. She retired at sixty-five, dedicating her time thereafter to the joy and care of her beloved grandchildren.

A pillar of faith and community, Bertha was a longtime member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Piscataway. She actively participated in the Philoptochos Society, St. Barbara Chapter and gave generously of her time to the annual church festival.

Bertha's life was enriched by travel and discovery. From Greece to Hawaii, Bermuda to New Orleans, she embraced every opportunity to explore and connect. She loved animals, especially her loyal dog, Sammy, and held a profound appreciation for her country.

She was predeceased by her husband, Christos, in 1978; her son, Christopher Bekiaris; her sister, Elvira Hauser; and her cherished friend, Ethel. She is survived by her daughter, Aphrodite Scicchitano, and her husband, Adam; her grandchildren, Alexa Canas and husband Chris, Adam Scicchitano and wife Vicky; and her great-grandchildren, Travis, Tyler, Stella, Adam, and Madison.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1101 River Road, Piscataway. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by interment at Franklin Memorial Park in North Brunswick.

Bertha Bekiaris leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and integrity-a life well-lived and deeply cherished.
