Bertha Edna Chavez

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Bertha Edna Chavez (Ita), who was called upon by our Lord Jesus Christ on February 21, 2024, in El Paso, TX, at the age of 53. She was born on April 25, 1970, in El Paso, TX. Bertha was a beloved single mother to her son, Didier Ruiz, whom she adored and lived for. She was known for her loving and caring nature, always willing to help others. Ita was a dedicated individual who worked hard to achieve every goal she set. Bertha is survived by her son, Didier Ruiz, father Juan Chavez, Brothers Juan Chavez, Ricardo Chavez, Hugo Chavez, and Carlos Chavez, and sisters Blanca E. Jara and Liliana Chavez-Cady. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bertha L. Chavez. Bertha attended Socorro High School and furthered her education at the University of Texas at El Paso. She continued with her education and became a certified Realtor. She worshiped at San Felipe de Jesus and enjoyed socializing with family and friends in her free time.
Funeral services for Bertha Edna Chavez (Ita) will be held as follows: -visitation and viewing on Wednesday, February 28, from 5-9pm, with a Rosary at 7pm at Martin Funeral Home, 1460 George Dieter.
-Mass on Thursday, February 29, at 11:30am at San Felipe De Jesus Catholic Church, 401 Passmore Rd., With burial to follow at 2pm at Restlawn, 4848 Alps (off Dyer). The Celebration of Bertha's Life will be held at the Barn Venue, 2828 N. Lee Trevino Dr. from 2:30 to 6:30pm.
In Lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center or St. Jude in memory of Bertha Edna Chavez. -We would like to take this time to thank friends, co-workers and the rest of our family for the prayers, visitations, calls and contributions for our beloved Bertha. -Martin Funeral Home in El Paso, TX, is assisting with the funeral arrangements.
