Born on May 27, 1936, In Goldsboro, North Carolina, Bertha attended Dillardite High School, where she met the love of her life, Washington "Deke" Parks Jr. They married in 1954 and shared a beautiful life as a Military Family in the United States Army. Together, they lived a life filled with purpose and service. Bertha dedicated herself to supporting America's soldiers, working in the Military Dining Facility, lovingly known as the Mess Hall, where she made sure every meal was served with care and compassion. She and Deke retired to Spanaway, Washington, in 1995, where her love and generosity continued to touch everyone she met.
She is survived by her devoted children: Washington "Ricky" Parks III (Jenebern Parks), Wilbert Lee "Peewee" Parks Sr., and Gary Lamont Parks (Abbie Parks). Her beloved grandchildren, Sadena Parks, Graeme Parks, Sandra Parks, Adra Deana "DeeDee" Williams, Wilbert Lee "JR" Parks Jr., Marcus Parks, Cassidy Renae Cleveland, and Gary Lamont "LG" Parks Jr., brought her endless pride and happiness.
