Bertie Whitaker Obituary

Published by Legacy on Apr. 17, 2024.
WHITE SETTLEMENT - Bertie (Robbins) Whitaker, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, left us on April 9, 2024, at the age of 73.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2024 at Greenwood Funeral Home in Memorial Suite B; 3344 White Settlement Rd, Fort Worth, Texas 76107.
Service: 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2024 in Live Oak Chapel at Greenwood; 3100 White Settlement Rd, Fort Worth, Texas 76107.
Bertie was born on December 19, 1950 in Melvin, Texas to parents, Sidney Eugene and Helen Alene Robbins. She married Jimmy Dale Whitaker, on June 7, 1969, with whom she shared a life full of love and devotion. Together they raised a beautiful family: Jimmy Dale Whitaker Jr., Bridget DeeAnn (Whitaker) Harley, and Timmy Eugene Whitaker. Her husband, children, and grandchildren were her pride and joy, filling her life with love and laughter. She was the rock we all leaned on and she kept us strong through the good times and bad with her guiding love.
She was a very loving and skilled homemaker and caregiver. Besides spending her time with her family and friends, she enjoyed several hobbies including: sewing, quilting, crafting, baking, and tending to her beautiful flower gardens. The delicious meals and treats she made will be missed by all. She was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord, her church, and her church family. She was always there to lend a helping hand with anything anyone ever needed of her.
Bertie is survived by her loving husband, Jimmy; her children, Jimmy D., Bridget, Timmy and his wife, Carol; grandchildren, Toby Whitaker, Jager Harley, Cheyenne Whitaker, and Piper Harley; brothers and sisters, Butch Robbins and wife, Gail, Ray Robbins and wife, Julia Vern, Lorna (Robbins) Rogers and husband, Dub, Dewey Robbins and wife, Deborah, and Shelly (Robbins) Hyles and husband, Steve. She is also survived by countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends; all who she cherished dearly.
Though she is no longer with us, Bertie's spirit lives on in the hearts of those she loved and those who loved her dearly. Her kindness, warmth, and love she shared will remain a cherished memory for all who had the privilege to know her.
Rest in peace Bertie, you will be missed dearly.

Back in my skateboarding & Brewer High school days most of my friends lived near each other. So I was always walking up the hill of Lakeview Ridge, from over on Cherry Lane and I would walk past the Whitaker's house. I would see Bridget and her family doing yard work or washing their cars. I always made a point to say hello, to Bridget. I do seem to remember her mom kindly offering me a cold drink, on a really hot Texas summer day. I never really knew her but I always suspected that she liked me.
