Bessie Lopez

Bessie Lopez, age 78 departed from our lives Wednesday, July 3, 2024, surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with cancer. Bessie was born in Manhattan, NY and had resided in Bloomfield, NJ for many years. She recently retired as the Dietary Chef from Kidz Place Day Care and Pre-School in Clifton. Bessie is survived by her best friend and loving husband, Sergio Lopez, her son, Joseph Lopez and his wife Gina Lopez and her daughter, Catherine Lopez. Brokenhearted over the loss of their "YiaYia" are her five grandchildren; Sophia, Chelsea, Matt, Alexander, Natalie and her two great grandsons; Maximiliano and Diego. Also surviving are Bessie's two sisters; Cleopatra Diamantes and Mary Televantos and her two brothers; Nicholas and Johnny Krokondelas. And her two dogs Bandit and Bailey. She was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Catherine Krokondelas and her brothers, Tony Callas and George Krokondelas. The family will receive extended family and friends on Sunday, July 7, 2024, from 2:00 – 6:00 pm, with the Trisagion Service being held at 3:00 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024, 10:00 am at St. Nicholas G.O. Church, 467 Grandview Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481 with the interment to follow at Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah, NJ. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers and in keeping with Bessie's wishes for her love of dogs, donations to Supporters of the Bloomfield Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 86, Ocean Grove, NJ 07756, a retreat for woman at no cost, dealing with or recovering from cancer, that Bessie was going to attend in September.
