Betsy Hisel Moss, 88, of Nicholasville passed away peacefully on Monday, June 23, 2025 surrounded by her children at home. Betsy was the loving wife of the late Teddy Moss, and the two had been sweethearts since their school days and married for nearly 70 years. Betsy was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Nicholasville.
Born May 5, 1937 to the late Ollie and Sarah Hisel, Betsy spent her entire life in Central Kentucky. She loved traveling, music, enjoying good food, and entertaining. Betsy and Teddy’s home was always the gathering place for beloved friends and family. They hosted countless holidays, birthdays, showers, and dinner parties over the years. Betsy’s warm and easy hospitality was one of her most endearing traits. She also had the gift of encouragement–Betsy loved writing cards to others for all occasions. She loved being surrounded by beautiful things like her flowers, pretty furniture, and the faces of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will always treasure precious memories of their Mimi in their hearts.
Betsy is survived by her daughter, Trish Moss of Lexington; her son, Tim Moss (Robin) of Nicholasville; her beloved grandchildren, the darlings, Sarah Slusher (Brandon), Christopher Moss (Heather), and Aaron Moss (Elli); her treasured great-grandchildren Emma and Abe Slusher, Dahlia, Alice, and Violet Moss. Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents and husband, was a brother, Wayne Hisel. In addition to her family, Betsy will be greatly missed by a host of lifelong friends. She will also be missed by Mary Ferguson, who cared so tenderly for her in her last years of life, and Molly, a special canine companion.
Visitation will be Monday June 30th at Betts and West Funeral Home in Nicholasville from 3:00-6:00 PM and Tuesday July 1st from 10:00-11:00 AM. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM and will be followed by a brief graveside service at Maple Grove Cemetery in Nicholasville.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to UK Children’s Hospital in honor of Betsy’s great-granddaughter Violet Moss or Bluegrass Care Navigators.
