Bette Jo Fielden, 94, of Spring, Texas, entered into the eternal presence of the Lord on Tuesday morning, August 12, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones. Bette was born on November 12, 1930 in Greenback, Tennessee and was a beloved daughter of the late Joseph E. Mills and Willie M. Peoples Mills.

Bette graduated from Clinton High School and went to work for Bell South Telephone Company soon after. She also was a member of Second Baptist Church in Clinton, Tennessee. Bette married her first husband, Robert (Bob) Lincoln Fielden Jr. in 1950 and in 1958, welcomed her son, and pride of her life Courtney (Kent) Fielden. After the birth of Kent, Bette retired from the telephone company to spend more time raising him at home. Bette went on to work as a teachers assistant for South Clinton Elementary in Clinton, Tennessee for more than 15 years after that until she retired.
In 2001 Bette and Bob moved to Spring, Texas to be closer to Kent and her grandchildren Courtney and Justin Fielden whom she loved dearly. Taking care of her grandchildren were some of the highlights of her life. She enjoyed taking them to school and picking them up and even attending numerous events including sports and other activities. She adored them with all of her heart even until the day of her passing. Following the passing of her first husband, Bob Fielden, Bette continued to reside in Spring Texas to stay close to her grandchildren and family. Bette loved to cook and always had a very ornately decorated dinner table during Christmas or Thanksgiving holidays. Some of her families favorites were her fried chicken, sweet potato casserole, green beans and even her famous buttermilk pie, and she would always be sure to ask "what would you like me to make this year?". After the passing of her first husband, Bob Fielden in 2007 Bette, full of life still, entered the online dating scene. Her son Kent often had to check on her every so often to ensure she didn't get in trouble with any of her suitors. Bette was always prim and proper and always made sure her hair and makeup were nothing less than perfect. Additionally, she started doing Tai Chi and line dancing when she was 80, which came as a surprise to all her family. In 2012 she met Richard Paul, and in 2014 they married and he became her loving husband. Bette never slowed down as she got older. In fact she went on many adventures with her husband, Richard Paul, even late in life. Some of these adventures included going to plays and shows in Branson, Missouri, as well as a trip to Hawaii and even a cruise. Bette and Richard often transited between Spring, Texas and Chapel Hill, Texas where he resides and where they were members of Calvary Baptist Church in Brenham, Texas.

Bette was a true southern lady who was loved dearly by her friends and family alike. She loved the Lord, and she never stopped living her life to the fullest even in her later years, in fact you might even say she became more alive. Her family was her pride and joy, especially her son, and only child Kent Fielden whom she was so proud of and would have given the world for. We all have so many memories, mannerisms, phrases and even voicemails we will remember her by. Her presence was sweet, full of love and made you feel like you were right where you needed to be when you were around her. We will all continue to love her dearly, and she is forever cherished by all.

Bette is survived by her loving husband, Richard Paul, and her devoted family, including her son Kent Fielden and his wife in Yen Pham. She was a cherished grandmother to Courtney Fielden and Justin Fielden and proud great grandmother to James, Judah, and Jeremiah Fielden as well as Jax Hackney. She is also survived by her sister, Lena Bayless, and her nephew Joel Bayless as well as many other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her brother Bobby, Bette was proceeded in death by her first husband, Bob Fielden.
