Mrs. Bettie Lou Odom, age 81, passed away, Saturday, November 30, 2024, in Atmore, AL. She was born April 14, 1943, in Century, FL; and later in life moved to Addison, IL; and has resided in Atmore, AL; the past 20 years.
Mrs. Odom was a woman of many passions. She loved the thrill of going to the casino, where the lights and sounds filled her with excitement. In her quiet moments, she found joy in cross stitching, creating beautiful pieces with colorful threads. Classic movies were her favorite pastime; she could spend hours getting lost in the stories of the past. Gardening brought her happiness too, especially planting vibrant flowers and juicy tomato plants. One of her favorite places was the beach in Destin, Florida, where she relaxed by the waves. She also cherished her trips to Las Vegas, where the fun never seemed to end.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Luther D. (Bernice Rutherford) Emmons, husband Jesse James Odom, two sisters, Annette Jones, Merlene Forbes, and one grandson, Brandon Odom.
She is survived by her two sons, Jeffery Odom (Linda Lee) of Geneva, IL; Michael Odom, of Daphne, AL; one daughter, Linda Kay Odom, of Loxley, AL; three grandchildren, Jennifer Chilicki, Kevin Odom, Alexander Odom, nine great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
