Loris, South Carolina

Mrs. Betty Faye Hardee Brooks, age 85, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at her home. Born on May 11, 1940, in Loris, SC, she was the daughter of the late Columbus Oree Hardee and the late Retha Mae Jacobs Hardee. Mrs. Brooks graduated from Loris High School in 1957 and was married to the love of her life, William Gerald Brooks, for 59 wonderful years. She was a founding member of the Loris Jayceettes and worked for Stevens Law Firm for 38 years, where she was admired for her sharp legal mind and dedication. She loved tending to her flower garden, cheering for her beloved Clemson Tigers, watching golf, and shag dancing. Family meant everything to her, and some of her fondest memories were spent every Sunday afternoon on her mother's back porch, surrounded by the ladies in her family, sharing laughter and stories together. Mrs. Brooks was a longtime member of Camp Swamp United Methodist Church and will be missed by all who were blessed to have known her.

Survivors include her loving children, Barry Brooks (Dawn), and Kelly Strickland (Jay); six grandchildren, Reese Brooks (Kate), Ashton Alford (Justin), William Brooks (Anna), Jayson Strickland (Grayson), Jason Brooks (Jarrett), and Jordan Cuba (P.J.); seven great-grandchildren, Jaxton Alford, Graylyn Alford, Avery Kate Strickland, Effie Brooks, Graham Brooks, Davis Brooks, and Cooper Brooks; brother, Willie C "Bill" Hardee (Janet); and sister, Patsy H Smith (Billy).

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brooks was predeceased by her husband, William Gerald Brooks.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Camp Swamp United Methodist Church with Rev. Glenn Dameron officiating. Committal services will follow at Bellamy-Brooks cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 PM on Tuesday, prior to services, at Hardwick Funeral Home. The family requests that memorials be made to New Directions of Horry County, P.O. Box 2922, Myrtle Beach, SC 29578. Please sign Mrs. Brooks' online guestbook at hardwickfuneralhome.com or call Hardwick Funeral Home at 843-756-7001 for further information.
