Betty Jane (Clearwater) Cooper, 88, of Plainfield, passed away on January 1, 2024.  She was born at home in Stilesville, IN on a snowy day on March 16, 1935.  Born to Coleman and Bernice Clearwater.  Betty was the youngest of four children.  She started working by delivery papers in the morning and evening in Stilesville at about the age of 8.  Betty attended Stilesville School system where she was a cheerleader and loved basketball.  She was married to Lee Hubbard on March 6, 1954.  They lived near Hazelwood and had two children, Joy Lee and Steven.  Many years later she and Roy Cooper were married.  They enjoyed 16 wonderful years together of ministry and sharing there faith with RV travel through MAPS "Missions Abroad Placement Service".  Betty and Lee worked together in their early years in there business and then she worked at the Messenger in Plainfield.  Insurance agent was a job she greatly enjoyed and then retired as a case manager for CICOA "Central Indiana On Aging".  Punta Gorda, FL was her winter home in her later years.  Many fun times were had at Alligator Park.  Being a true student of the Bible, she lead Bible studies in Punta Gorda and started a soup kitchen for the homeless.  Entertaining, cooking and bringing others to the table together were important to her.  She was a true gentle soul who thought the best of everyone and lived a true Christian Life.  Her children feel blessed to have had her as their Mom.  Survivors include Joy Lee Kivett, Steven (Neena) Hubbard and grandchildren, Nathan (Ely) Hubbard and Reagan (Bryce) Schwersenska.  Funeral services will be on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 1:00 pm in Hazelwood Christian Church (9947 S. CR 0, Clayton, IN 46118) where friends may visit from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 1:00 pm.  Burial will follow in Stilesville Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Stilesville Cemetery Perpetual care fund (3944 W. CR 900 S., Stilesville, IN 46180).
