Betty Jo Cornett, 77, went to be with her Savior on Monday, April 7, 2025 in Georgetown, Kentucky. Born on September 22, 1947 to the late Zola Campbell and Donald Nathaniel Warren in Hazard, Kentucky, Betty accepted Jesus into her heart at 16 and was a proud graduate of Hazard High School. Betty was Baptist by faith with longtime membership at New Hope Baptist and later at Gano Baptist. She started New Hope's first baseball team, called Cornett's Hornets. She was always active. She and her husband of 56 years, George Cornett, managed a service station together and raised a family. Betty's love and devotion to her children and grandchildren was her greatest attribute. She loved to go fishing and she taught each grandchild to fish. Betty loved pets and even owned a pet store.
Betty will be lovingly remembered by the love of her life and adoring husband, George Cornett. His love and devotion never ceased. She will be remembered as well by her son, George Christopher (Becki) Cornett of Lexington, Kentucky; her daughter, Tammy (Pearl ) Campbell of Georgetown, Indiana; her grandchildren, Corbin Sinex, Landon Sinex, Sarah (Jacob) Sloan, Kayla Cornett, Emma Cornett, Megan Cornett; a great-granddaughter, Amelia Sloan; and a brother, Donald Warren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Jimmy Dale Warren, Larry Warren, Gene Warren; a sister, Beverly Begley; her dog she adored, Gizmo; and her swan at the lake, called Swannie.
