Betty J. Cotter, age 98, of Chillicothe, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at her home.
Betty was born on June 23, 1926 in Rushville, MO to Elisha S. and Lena L. (Marolf) Painter. She married Burton D. Cotter on April 10, 1948 in St. Joseph, MO. He preceded her in death on September 10, 2005. Also preceding her in death are parents; her brother, William Painter; her daughter, Karen Roche; and two grandchildren, John Nelson and Christopher Allen.
Surviving are her son, Gary D. Cotter of Chillicothe; three grandchildren, Matt Nelson of Chillicothe, IL, Lindy (jeff) Vonk of Chillicothe, IL and Jamie Allen of Peoria, IL; four great-grandchildren, Mathew Nelson, Cameron Pistole, Peyton Allen and Taryn Lee; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Betty was the office manager for Midwest Urological Group for 23 years and then for Foley-Gill Ford for eight years when she retired. She was a member of River Valley Ministries, Pearce Community Center and the Pearce Line Dancers and was a life member of the Health and Wellness Club. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and will be missed by all who knew her.
Betty's wishes were for her body to be donated to science with cremation rites accorded following. There will be no services at this time. Arrangements are under the care of Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe.
