Betty Jean Humpston Jenkins, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025, at the age of 88, in
Knoxville, TN. Born on November 7, 1936, in White Pine, TN, she was of the Baptist faith. Betty's life was marked by her unwavering kindness, friendliness, and loving nature.Betty graduated from Central High School in 1954. Her academic achievements were just the beginning of a life characterized by diligence and dedication. Betty's career spanned over two decades, starting as a Senior Secretary at the University of Tennessee's Marketing & Transportation Department from 1980 to 1985. She then served with distinction as an Administrative Assistant for Moore Business Forms from 1985 to 1995.Alongside her professional accomplishments, Betty's interests painted the picture of a life rich in joy and engagement with the world around her. She shared a love of traveling with her beloved husband, Richard, with whom she traversed the U.S. to witness the thrilling performances at Drum Corps Competitions. An avid supporter of the UT Vols, Betty could often be found cheering enthusiastically during basketball games, embodying the true spirit of a dedicated fan.Betty's talents were many, and she found solace and joy in the keys of her piano, which she played with grace and passion. Her love for nature was evident in her hobbies; bird watching, gardening, and tending to her vibrant flowers brought her immense pleasure. Through her lens as a keen photographer, Betty captured the beauty of the world, leaving behind a legacy of cherished memories in her stunning photographs. Music, in all its forms, was a constant source of inspiration and comfort throughout her life.She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Imogene and Gene Humpston; son-in-law, Donovan Stewart; and sister-in-law, Brenda Jenkins.Betty leaves behind her husband of 40 years, Richard Jenkins; daughters, Patty Bigelow and Pam Stewart; granddaughters, Kelsey Wood (Zack), Alyssa Stewart (Ben Steinke); great-granddaughter, Jane Grace Wood (born 2/13/25); step-daughter, Tonya Henke (Randy); step-grandchildren, Cortland, Caylor, Shyla Henke; her "lunch bunch", Sarah, Patsy, and Kathryn; and several cousins. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the compassionate and caring staff at UT Hospice Service and Sacred Ground Hospice House.A service will be held 1:00pm on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Powell United Methodist Church (323 W. Emory Rd.,
