Emily Anna Jacobus Vergerio, age 34, passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 8, 2025. She was born on July 2, 1990 in Knoxville. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Anne and Phil Jacobus of Pittsburgh, PA, and Frank and Ellen Weirich of Knoxville; and her nephew, Ryker Ownby of Knoxville. She is survived by her son, Alexander and his father, Christopher Vergerio; as well as her parents, Michael Jacobus and Jane Ingle; brother Patrick, his wife Julie and their daughters, Katie and Lilly; brother, Jon Jacobus; and uncle Dan Weirich, all of Knoxville. Many thanks for Jennifer Moore and Laura Connolly for their unwavering love and friendship over many years. A memorial service will be held 2pm on Sunday, February 23rd, at Fountain City Presbyterian Church, 500 Hotel Ave., Knoxville. The service will be followed by a reception in the church fellowship hall. Emily was very proud that she was born and raised in Fountain City. She attended Fountain City Elementary, Gresham Middle School, and Central High School. She loved cats and shoes, not necessarily in that order. Sadly, she succumbed to the disease of addiction, which she had valiantly fought for many years. Our hearts are broken, but we are forever better for having had her in our lives. As a family we would love for you to attend and share your memories of Emily. In lieu of flowers, contributions for Alexanders future can be sent to (5100 Jacksboro Pike, Knoxville, TN 37918) in care of Mike Jacobus. The family is grateful to Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel for their assistance at this time.
