Randel Edward Summers, age 69, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on October 7, 2025. He was a lifelong resident of Knoxville TN. He graduated from Central High school in the Class of 1974. Randy served six years in the United States Air Force. During his service, he met his loving wife while stationed in Germany. They lived there together for a couple of years before he was honorably discharged and moved back home to Knoxville. He retired after working over 30 years at TVA Bull Run Steam Plant.
Randy was a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, and brother-in-law to his extended family from Michigan and friend. Spending time with his grandsons was one of his greatest joys. He was an avid Vols fan, who loved watching UT football, basketball, and any other UT Volunteer sports that he could. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling, visiting family, and riding his Harley Davidson. He also greatly enjoyed boating, fishing, and trips to the mountains.
Randel was preceded in death by his parents Janice "Sue" and Charles "Red" Jones.
Randel is survived by his wife Patricia Petitpren Summers; children Andrea Petitpren Summers and Justin Randel Summers & wife Arleen; grandsons Silas Joachim and Elijah Randel Summers; father Daniel Summers; brother Charles "Rusty" Jones; and cousin Ray Armstrong.
