Betty Jo Rosser Horton, 83, of Abbeville, wife of the late Manley Jennings Horton Sr., died Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Self Regional Health Care in Greenwood. She was the daughter of the late Jessie Carroll Rosser and Lillie Gertrude Shiflet Rosser.
Betty Jo, affectionately known as ‘Nanny’, was a member of the Congregational Holiness Church and a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
In addition to her husband of 62 years and parents, Nanny was proceeded in death by three brothers, Russell ‘Buddy’ Rosser, Archie Rosser, and J.C. Rosser Jr.; two sisters, Sara Jane Evans, and Carolyn Evans.
Nanny is survived by her son, Manley Horton Jr. of Abbeville; two daughters, Mary (Ron) Horton Shaw of Greenwood, and Teresa Horton Woodhurst of Abbeville; a very special family friend, Andy Pressley of Abbeville; two brothers Jackie R. Rosser of Abbeville, and James Ronald Rosser of Calhoun Falls; one sister Martha (Kim) Walker of Tignall, GA; four grandchildren, Amy Willoughby, Jason (Lelia) Shaw, Becky (Jay) Clinkscales, Katie Jo (Justin) Bratcher; seven great-grandchildren, Devin, Emily, Kaylee Ann, Caleb, Eli, Carter, and Lane; and a great- great granddaughter, Olivia.
The family will receive friends Saturday, August 31, 2024 10:00AM – 11:00AM at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00AM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Tim Dorsey officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Memorial contributions, in memory of Nanny, may be sent to Congregational Holiness, 101 Perry Street, Abbeville, SC 29620.
