Betty J. Lucchesi AKA: MAM, Betz, Betty Jane August 30, 1935-July 30, 2025
We celebrate the unforgettable life of our beloved matriarch-someone who lived joyfully, laughed often, and loved with all her heart.
She was the life of every party (especially her own birthday parties, which she never let us forget). A true lover of good times with family and friends, she believed no occasion was too small for a gathering filled with food, laughter, and just the right amount of chaos. If you ever left her house hungry, it was your own fault-her "famous" recipes (as she called them, and who were we to disagree?) were always served with second helpings and hilarious stories.
She cherished PSU Football Saturdays, Lock Haven cheerleading, singing to Sinatra, playing cards, and any chance to pass down family holiday traditions that we will never do quite as well as she did. Her favorite drink... a cold Coors Light, preferably in hand while surrounded by loved ones or playing hostess to a kitchen full of people.
Above all, she treasured her family: her children-Scott Lucchesi (Michelle Miller), Susan W. Pysher (Doug), and Shelley Brugel; her grandchildren-Dante Lucchesi (Laura), Collin Wagner (Katie), Chris Wagner (Liz), Joey Wagner (dearly departed)) and Rocco Brugel; and her great-grandchildren-Teyo, Lennox, Giada, Romeo, Demi and Audrina. Each one held a special place in her heart and, in her eyes, could absolutely do no wrong.
Throughout her years she kept busy (and then some): a proud member of the State College Jr. Women's Club and Welcome Wagon, a school volunteer extraordinaire, a tennis champ, an avid golfer, a Silver Sneakers dance enthusiast, a short story writer and for many years she enjoyed working in property management. Her days were full, her friendships true, and her home always open.
She believed in an open-door policy and a well-stocked fridge. If you knew her, you likely have at least one story that still makes you laugh out loud. She wouldn't want us to cry (unless it's from laughing too hard), so in her honor-raise a glass, share a story, feed someone you love, and smile.
She wouldn't have it any other way.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 4th from 12:00 - 1:30pm with a service immediately following at Koch Funeral Home 2401 S. Atherton St., State College, PA.
