Betty E. McGarity

Betty E. McGarity, age 76, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital. She was born on March 12, 1949, in Cherokee County, Georgia, to the late Carl and Jewell Sims.
Betty was a member of New Home Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending quiet moments working on puzzles, listening to gospel music, and playing Candy Crush on her tablet. Betty especially loved the Christmas season, her favorite time of year, and took pride in decorating her home to celebrate it.
Above all, Betty cherished her family. She found her greatest happiness in the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whose love and laughter filled her life with joy. She will be remembered for her kindness, gentle spirit, and the deep love she shared with all who knew her.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence McGarity and her parents.
Survivors include her children, Pam Lowe (John), Linda Stewart (Wes), Brenda Elliott (Josh) and Chris McGarity (Tabby); grandchildren, Jacob Childers, Megan Childers, Wade Lowe, Destiny Childers, Chloe Stewart, David Lowe, Preston Stewart, and Dalton Lowe; great-grandchildren, Orion Childers, Haven Sopa, Osiris Childers, and Knox Childers; brothers, Jerry Sims (Shirlene) and Ed Sims (Charlotte); as well as beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Phillip Justus and Rev. Larry Eubanks officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 28th from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Wade Lowe, Jacob Childers, Preston Stewart, David Lowe, Wesley Sims, Kevin Sims and Zack Sims.
