Betty J. (Tucker) Mongeon, 89, a resident of Shrewsbury for the past 61 years, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Homestead Hall in Worcester.

She was born, raised and educated in Eldridge, Alabama, daughter of the late Grady V. and Ruby M. (Kendrick) Tucker. She met the love of her life, Paul I. Mongeon, while he was stationed at Ft. Gordon in Georgia. They married in 1959 in South Carolina and then moved to Massachusetts, where they started their family. Paul passed away in 2016 after 57 years of marriage.

Betty had several jobs during her working career; her last was as a quality control inspector for Sprague Electric in Worcester before she retired.

Some of Betty's happiest days were when she spent time with the family at the canal in Bourne where she and her late husband were members of the Worcester Surf Caster's Club. She enjoyed being home as well, tending to her beautiful flowers gardens, doing crossword puzzles and word searches.

She leaves two daughters, Cynthia J. Longval and her husband, Andre of South Kingstown, RI and Georgia J. Mongeon of Shrewsbury; five grandchildren, Thomas P. Longval and his wife, Lindsay, Daniel T. Burke, Brendan M. Burke, Tyler M. Mongeon and Makenna A. Mongeon; six great grandchildren; a brother, Robert V. Tucker of Carrolton, Georgia; several many nieces and nephews; as well as two sisters-in-laws, Dorothy Mongeon of Shrewsbury and Bobbie Tucker of Metter, Georgia. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Paul K. Mongeon and five siblings, Linda, John, Perry, Lonnie and Patricia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Betty's memory can be made to Jewish Healthcare Hospice, 646 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609 (https://www.jhccenter.org/jhc-hospice/).

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Mountain View Cemetery, (Section OO) Boylston Street, Shrewsbury.
