Betty Jean Oody

Betty Jean Ward Oody was born January 17, 1937, passed August 23, 2025. Betty was a lifelong resident of Harriman, Tennessee and of Riverside Baptist Church. She graduated from Harriman High School in 1955 and was married to Doug Oody for 60 plus years. Betty served in several occupations: telephone operator, Roane Hosiery Mill and C & C Bank/Bank of America. However, Betty's favorite thing was to spoil her grandchildren and follow their sports and activities. Preceded in death by her husband George Douglas (Doug) Oody parents, William H. and Delsie Ward brother, Larry D. Ward granddaughter, Misty Brooke Oody special friend, Beverly Dishman Survived by: Sons, Barry D. Oody and wife Sherry William K. Oody and wife Tracy Grandchildren: Marie Oody Miles, Brent James (Jay) Oody, Christa, Andrew Oody, Katie Oody and Wes. Great-grandchildren: Avery Miles, Evan Miles, Cason Miles, Ally Miles, George Oody, Hannah Oody, Kaley Oody-Spears, Kaden Oody-Spears. Multiple beloved nieces and nephews. Sisters-in-law: Jan Webster, Patsy Forrester, Jean Ward and Joby Oody Special cousins: Linda Thurman and Jeannie Kasaida Special friends: Bernice and Crystal Catron, Maggie Henry. Many loving friends, neighbors and Family at Riverside Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers please make donations in memory of Betty to Riverside Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Kyker Funeral Home of Harriman. Funeral at 1:00 p.m. in the Kyker Chapel with Reverend Greg Kelly officiating. Interment to follow in Roane Memorial Gardens. Kyker Funeral Home of Harriman is serving the Oody Family.
