Betty Jane (Phillips) Ruttman; daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, friend, and neighbor was born on June 11, 1931 to Theron and Viola (Shipley) Phillips. She passed away peacefully with her family and friends around her on August 21, 2022.
On January 28, 1950, she married Frank August Ruttman. They lived on and worked the Long Creek Farm dairy farm. Together, they raised 3 children;Judith Ann (William) Call, Thomas Frank (Carol Wellman) Ruttman and Karen Louise (Tim Reinhart) Johnson. She had 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was a founding member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Fowlerville, MI, a member for almost 60 years, held many offices at the local and county levels, and worked as Sunday school teacher and janitor. She was privileged to be a part of many organizations and activities over the years. She and Frank worked with the OLSHA (Gleaner s) Food Assistance program for 30 years. She was a 4-H leader for 13 years. As a member of the Friendly Neighbors Kings Daughters since 1958, she held offices at the local, county, and state levels and lead the Jr. Kings Daughters group for some years. She held offices at the local and county levels of the Ann Arbor United Methodist Women. She worked as a greeter at the Kreeger Elementary School for several years. She and Frank enjoyed travels to Alaska, Hawaii and around Michigan.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Ernestine Phillips (brother and sister-in-law), Norma and Bill Oakley (sister and brother-in-law) and grandson, Byron August Ruttman.
Funeral Services will be held on August 26, 2022 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Fowlerville.Memorial donations may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 8201 Iosco Rd, Fowlerville, MI 48836
