Betty J. Sayre, 75, of Strasburg, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2024 in Park Village Nursing Home at Dover following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late Carl W. Price and Lois (Murry) Savage and her step-father, George Savage, Betty was born November 24, 1948 at Massillon, Ohio.

Betty married Samuel Sayre and enjoyed 55 years of wonderful marriage. The couple raised two children, Samuel II and Elisabeth.

Betty will be remembered by her family as being a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and for being an animal lover. Betty was a wonderful baker of delicious treats for her family. She was famous for her chocolate chip cookies, Christmas reindeer cookies and peanut butter blossoms. Betty loved to decorate her home with seasonal accents and took great pride in always presenting herself in sparkly and whimsical attire.

She is survived by her daughter, Elisabeth and son-in-law, Kasey Kuhlman of Cincinnati; her daughter-in-law, Michelle Sayre; her grandchildren, Dylan Sayre, Samantha (Sayre) Cline, Chase (Meg) Kuhlman, Spencer (Kelsey) Kuhlman, and Cameron Kuhlman; and two great-grandchildren, Izzy and Declan along with their mother Kasey Prater. Betty is also survived by her three brothers, Dave (Barb) Savage, Steve (Cindy) Savage, and Rick (Kollene) Savage.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband on August 15, 2021. She was also preceded in death by her son, Samuel A. Sayre II; her parents, George and Lois Savage; and her beloved cat, Jinx.

The family would like to convey their most heartfelt appreciation for the loving care that Betty received at Park Village over the last year. The nurses and staff gave comfort and dignity to Betty on so many difficult days and peace of mind to her family when they could not be at her bedside. The family is also grateful to Crossroads Hospice for the loving and compassionate care Betty received from them in her final months.

A private celebration of life will be held on a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Betty’s memory to the Tuscarawas County Humane Society, 1432 Tall Timber Rd NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.

The family would welcome and greatly appreciate any cards and letters with personal memories or stories about Betty, and condolences, be mailed to Elisabeth Kuhlman, 4700 Drake Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45243
