Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Betty Thomas, 96, of Carthage, Texas will be 10:00 a.m. Friday October 17, 2025 at the Fielder Cemetery in Lufkin, Texas. Burial will follow under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home.
Mrs. Betty Sue Sens Thomas was born November 30, 1928, in Yorktown, Dewitt County, Texas. She passed this life October 8, 2025, in Carthage, Texas. Betty was one of five children born to the marriage of Georgia Henrietta Isabella Minnie Bruns and Herman Louis Sens. She was raised and schooled in Yorktown and Alice, Texas. Betty married her love; William Stratton Thomas and they celebrated almost 38 years of marriage before he preceded her in death in 1983.
Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church in Odem, Texas. She loved sewing, crafting, attending exercise classes and playing 42. She is also preceded in death by her parents, siblings Jacquelyn Mills, Joy Dunn, Herman Louis Sens Jr., Mary Ann Hunter; sons, Lonnie Eugene and Alton Ray Thomas; grandsons, Keric Chapman and Alex Thomas.
Betty is survived by her loving daughter, Lacy Jones and husband Jerry of Carthage; brother-in-law, Kenneth Hunter of Skidmore; grandchildren, Jason Price and wife Monica, Shanna Price, Mandy Powell and husband Michael, Jerry Jones, Jr. and wife Tiffany; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Miles Powell, Miller Powell, Mason Powell, Michael Thomas, Jason Price and Jerry Jones, Jr.
Betty's family would like to thank her loving caregivers, Tina Howard, Alice Brown, Julie Garcia, Chanelle Veliz and Gianna Veliz.
