Beverley Hassell Talluto passed away at Jersey Shore Medical Center on Tuesday, May 30th, shortly after her 86th birthday.
Beverley was born to Elizabeth and Ernest Hassell on May 13th, 1937, in Ridley Park, PA. She was the oldest of three siblings. She graduated from Ridley Township High School in 1955 and participated in many clubs, including the school newspaper and Varsity, and was a member of the National Honor Society. She also played softball and managed the hockey team.
At the age of 25, she met Angelo John Talluto. They were married shortly after on December 1st, 1962. Together they moved 18 times in their 56 years of marriage. Among the places they lived were Northeast Philadelphia, PA; Easton, PA; East Windsor, NJ; Winston Salem, NC; Montreal, Quebec; Cedar Knolls, NJ; Wilmington, NC; Bethesda, MD; Manchester, NJ; and Marcus Hook, PA. Beverley began her career as an Executive Secretary at GE in Philadelphia. She worked at multiple companies over her career, including RJ Reynolds, Ciba-Geigy, Warner Lambert, and AT&T.
Beverley enjoyed gourmet cooking, gardening, dining "al fresco", and interior decorating (kept in practice by her and Angelo's frequent relocation). Her favorite meal was breakfast and she loved hot pink tulips. She was always dressed in brilliant colors with her makeup done. She could never be caught without her pink lipstick, which she would leave as a parting gift with every kiss on the cheek.
Beverley was a fighter. She was a two-time cancer survivor, recently celebrating three years cancer free after a bout with Stage IV metastatic melanoma. She had a zest for life and loved being around people. She enjoyed walks on the boardwalk and in parks with the "Gym Rats", lunches with her "Babes and Hunks" from high school, dinners with the "Lobby Ladies", and monthly breakfast at the Elks where everyone adored her. But most of all, she enjoyed holiday and Sunday dinners with her family.
Beverley is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tiffany and Stephen DeMatteo; her step-daughter, Vikki Gitlin Smith; her grandson, Robert Lussier; her granddaughter, Rachael Smith; her sister, Nina Macrone; and her brother, Ernest Hassell. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 56 years, Angelo Talluto.
A service will be held at Orender Family Home on Saturday, June 10th from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at 2643 Old Bridge Rd., Manasquan, NJ. A celebration of life will follow immediately after the service at 352 Lanes Pond Rd., Howell, NJ.
