Beverly "Bev" Deanne Dickey was born on August 10th, 1954, to Merle Robert and Ora June (Hunt) Sloss. She passed away on January 1st, 2025, at 70 years of age.
Beverly was raised in Stuart, Iowa, and attended Stuart-Menlo High School where she made many life-long friends. Beverly graduated in1972, and after graduation, she began a career in the insurance industry and later moved to Des Moines, Iowa. In 1978, she was united in marriage to Dennis Dickey. Beverly and her former husband were blessed with two children, Brandi and Dusty. Later, Beverly moved to Norwalk, Iowa, with her children and devoted her time to being an amazing mother. Over the next 30 years, her career evolved as she became deeply involved in the healthcare industry. She played an intricate part in the planning of the Unity Point Johnston Family Physicians Clinic where she served as the clinic manager for 16 years.
Bev was also an amazing baker, who loved to share her treats, like sweet rolls and "Bev" buns, with those she loved. She was known to make special batches of Chex mix, every holiday season for her friends and family.
Bev was a woman of faith, and it was this faith, strength, and love of God that helped her through the tragic loss of her daughter, Brandi. From this tragedy, Bev's faith continued to grow, and she never forgot all the special people in her life. Her love and faith extended to many others throughout her lifetime. She had a gift for making everyone feel special and could quickly turn a stranger into a friend.
Beverly was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and June Sloss, and her daughter, Brandi Dickey. She is survived by her son Dusty Dickey (Lindsay) and granddaughter Zoey Dickey; her brothers Bob Sloss (Diana), Bill Sloss (Sharon), and Ben Sloss (Loretta); and her long-term partner Ron Morrison. She was an "honorary" mother to Jeff Morrison (Sonya) and Rex Morrison, which included being a grandmother to Dane and Ty Morrison. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and countless close friends.
