Beverly Ruth Gates. 85, of Bridgewater, MA, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2025, after a period of declining health. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Beverly lived a life full of love, laughter, and generosity.
Born in Dorchester, MA, on December 9, 1939, Beverly was the cherished daughter of the late Harold and Helen Carlson. She graduated from the Jeremiah E. Burke High School and spent her early years enjoying tennis, dancing, beach outings, and treasured time with her family.
Beverly dedicated over 20 years of service to the Brockton Hospital Emergency Room Department, as a secretary to the head of the emergency department. After retirement, she embraced the joy of travel, sharing adventures with her beloved husband, E. Glen Gates, her siblings, and dear friends.
Known for her warm heart and vibrant spirit, Beverly found joy in simple pleasures-reading, sewing, quilting, and hunting for treasures at yard sales. She was a constant and enthusiastic supporter of her children and grandchildren, never missing a game, recital, or school play.
"Gramma Bev" was the heart of the family, graciously hosting the cherished Christmas Eve gathering for over 30 years-a tradition filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable memories.
She was predeceased by her loving husband E. Glen Gates, her parents Harold and Helen Carlson, her brother William Carlson, and her daughter Laurie A. Dewhurst (Jeff).
Beverly is lovingly remembered by her siblings Edward Carlson, Barbara Dantono (David), and Nancy Flaherty (Thomas); her daughters Debra Chipman (Terry) and Janice Flynn; her grandchildren Amanda Curtin (Mike), Sean and Brendan Chipman, Luke (Jess), Brett (Natalie), Sydney, Grady, and Austin Dewhurst, and Dyllan Welby; and her great-granddaughters Ava Chipman, and Kinsley and Callie Curtin.
Her legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
