Dover, NH: Beverly Anne Mitchell McCann, 89, of Mitchell Court died on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Watson Fields Assisted Living Facility in Dover with her family's care.
She was born on July 1, 1935, at the Exeter Hospital in Exeter, NH, the daughter of William M. Mitchell and Eileen McNeil Mitchell.
Beverly graduated from Portsmouth (NH) High School in 1953. During her high school years and after, she worked first as a clerk for (but quickly moved up to financial administrator and manager) at the Meadowbrook Inn, First National Bank and Kent McCray Department Store. She consulted with Morrison – Knudson Construction Company, Chase Markets and Chandlery, Eastern Air Devices and Meadows Transportation setting up financial tracking systems.
At age 19, she married 22-year-old Wiliam F. McCann of Portsmouth NH on April 30, 1955. They were together until Bill's death at 70 years of age on April 29th, 2003. She is survived by their children, Dennis McCann of Strafford, NH, and his wife Debora and their three children, Brendan McCann and his wife Kristen and their daughter Avalon of Newmarket, NH; Eric McCann and his wife Carolyn of Dover, NH, and their son Calvin; Cathryn McCann and her partner Ryan McGuire of Jackson, NH; Dianne McCann- Thomas of Amherst, NH, and her husband Matthew McCann-Thomas and their two children Christian Thomas and his wife Jennifer of British Columbia, Canada, and their daughter Ellie and son Isaac; and daughter Lauren Thomas Houle and her husband Michael Houle of Quincy, Massachusetts; and Denice McCann Albert and her husband Kevin Albert of Barrington, NH, and their son Aaron Albert and his partner Macy Blanchard of Dover NH, and their daughter Hayley of Barrington, NH; and David McCann and his wife Deb of Dover, NH, and their daughter Delaney (McCann) Crawford and her husband Jacob Crawford of Saco, Maine, and their son Connor McCann of Dover, NH.
Beverly was on the Executive Board of the Strafford County Co-operative Extension Service, having served as the Area Co-Ordinator between local groups and the Home Economist. She was an office holder for the local group for 18 years prior. She was a volunteer leader with extensive time in organizations like Cub Scouts and school efforts. She was an officer in, and President of, both the Strafford County Genealogical Society and the NH Genealogical Society, a passionate pursuit that she put a significant amount of her time into for over 35 years with voluminous results.

Calling hours will be from 4 pm to 6 pm on Wednesday, October 30th, 2024, at Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home on 655 Central Avenue, Dover, NH.

A funeral service will be held at St Mary's Church, Parish of the Assumption, 25 Chestnut Street, Dover NH, at 11 am on Thursday, October 31st, 2024. A reception will follow directly after the funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church Hall. A live streamed broadcast of the service will be available on the church website at Dover, NH - St. Mary's.
