Beverly J. Sleeter, age 87, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 8, 2024, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital surrounded by family.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, November 15, 2024, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. A visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:00am until the time of service. Burial will follow at Pioneer Cemetery.
Beverly was born on March 2, 1937, in Spencer, WI to Paul and Lydia Greening. She married Donald Sleeter on October 3, 1964, in a little brown church in Iowa.
Beverly worked as a secretary and dispatcher for the Marshfield Police Department and then as a matron, secretary, and stenographer for the Wood County Sheriff's department. She then worked in Wood County's Emergency Management office and Division of Aging office. She served as the financial officer for Meals on Wheels.
Beverly was a devoted member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church and served on the St. Luke's Women's Ministry. She was also a member of the VFW in Wisconsin Rapids.
Beverly enjoyed being outdoors, camping and fishing. She and Donald spent much of their time dancing, they loved to square dance, round dance, and line dance. They also enjoyed traveling to Florida and camping in their 5th wheel camper.
Beverly is survived by her husband of 60 years, Donald Sleeter; sons, Jeffrey (Tammy Nicholson) Sleeter and Scott (Wendy) Sleeter; stepchildren, Chuck (Joanne) Sleeter, Frank (Shirley) Sleeter, and David (Jane) Sleeter; grandchildren, Zachary and Brittany (Jordan); step-grandchildren; sisters, Anita and Eleanor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; 6 sisters; and 1 brother.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Beverly's name to South Wood County Humane Society.
