Debra A. Sleeter, affectionately known as Debbie, whose generous spirit and zest for life left an indelible mark on everyone she met. Born on April 10, 1961, in Philadelphia, PA, Debbie embraced the world with open arms and an open heart. Her journey came to a peaceful close on July 4, 2024, at Jefferson Hospital in Washington Twp., NJ, surrounded by the love of her family.
Debbie's life was a testament to the power of joy and the strength of family bonds. She was the beloved wife of Kasey Sleeter and a dedicated mom to Alysha, Anthony, Dana, and Michael Calabrese, and cherished stepson Kolton Sleeter with his wife Samantha. The daughter of John McLaughlin and the late Patricia McLaughlin (nee Stafford), Debbie shared an unbreakable connection with her twin brother John McLaughlin (Concetta), her brother Michael McLaughlin, and sisters Maureen and Colleen McLaughlin. She was the adored grandmother to Dominic Calabrese and Kolton Bear Sleeter, leaving a legacy of love and laughter for generations to come.
Debbie's life was rich with relationships, including her brothers/sisters in-law, Kevin Sleeter (Toni), Kelly Paoli (Mark), and Kurt Sleeter (Anita), and her mother-in-law Carolyn Sleeter. Her extended family of loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and their families knew her as a cornerstone, a source of boundless generosity and warmth.
A resident of Gloucester Twp., NJ, Debbie's work as "everybody's favorite bartender" at the Gloucester Township Democrat Club was more than a job; it was a platform for her to spread kindness and cultivate friendships. She was deeply integrated into her community, nurturing every relationship with genuine care and a sense of humor that could light up even the darkest room.
Debbie's interests painted a picture of her vibrant personality. Summers were spent with her family at Big Timber Lake campground, where the laughter echoed through the trees. She was an outdoor enthusiast who loved the Jersey Shore and relished every ride on the back of Kasey's motorcycle, feeling the breeze as they explored the roads together. Debbie's passion for cooking was another expression of her generosity, always eager to feed her friends and family with both food and love.
In remembering Debbie, we celebrate a life lived with unwavering generosity, love, and a sense of fun that was truly contagious. She taught us to embrace life's journey with courage, infuse our days with playfulness, and never underestimate the power of a well-cooked meal shared with the ones we love.
Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, July 11, 2024, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Earle Funeral Home, 122 W. Church St., Blackwood, NJ 08012, where a service will begin at 8:00 PM.
