Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Inc from Jul. 16 to Jul. 23, 2025.
It is with great sorrow that Terry Streater and Eddie Streater announce the passing of a beautiful mother, Ms. Beverly Ferguson Streater. Beverly passed from this life and into eternal rest amid her boys and grandchildren on July 16th, 2025.
Beverly was full of life and never met a stranger. Once she married Mr. Benny Ray Streater on August 7, 1964, her life changed forever. Together they raised two children, Terry and Eddie, and made their life in Wewoka. Benny and Beverly were married for forty years at the time of his death in 2014. She has missed him every day. He was surely waiting with open arms to greet her.
Beverly spent many hours mentoring students as they transitioned from high school to college as the Director of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma Higher Education Program. After an illustrious career, she proudly retired from the Bureau of Indian Education on January 29, 2013.
She enjoyed her career, but she absolutely relished her retirement. She was a very open person and would tell anyone she met, or really anyone that listened, that she was a proud member of the Cherokee Nation. That, along with her willingness and drive to help any and everyone she could, will be a lasting memory to all that had the pleasure of calling her friend. Always an animal lover, she particularly enjoyed the company of Brandy and Baby Girl, her two boxers, who were always under foot and joining in any activity with Beverly. She lost Brandy and Baby Girl and missed them terribly. She probably had two four-legged greeters as she strolled through the welcoming gates of Heaven.
Not only has Beverly reunited with her husband and trusted companions, she has most certainly already embraced others who reached Heaven before her: Parents, Benjamen Ferguson and Barbara Ann Graham Ferguson, and siblings Clarville Greer, Frank "Red" Ferguson, James Benjamin "JB" Ferguson, John Robert "Doogie" Ferguson, Charles Amos Ferguson, and Jerri Ferguson Castle.
Continuing to cherish Beverly on this side of Heaven are her two sons, Terry Streater and Eddie Streater, as well as grandchildren Eric Streater and Gregory Streater. Beverly was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Taylor Streater, Cameron Streater, Sierra Streater, Trinity Streater, and Eric Streater, Jr. Beverly also leaves her baby sister, the last of the Fergusons, Miss Patty Ferguson Henwood.
Terry and Eddie would like to thank everyone who welcomed Beverly into their hearts and especially the kind and patient staff at the Wewoka Indian Clinic, who cared for her through the years.
Beverly will be forever missed, continuously thought of, and most certainly, endlessly cherished as a mother who raised and cared for more people than we can count.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, July 21, 2025 at Oakwood Cemetery in
Wewoka, Oklahoma with Pastor Dan Factor officiating.
